Snowy Days

We live in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, off the shores on a barrier island.  It is very uncommon for this area in Zone 9b, to receive snow or wintery mixes in our weather forecast.  Just two weeks ago upon our return home from visiting our oldest daughter and her family in Mississippi, we were met with temperatures in the teens and a forecast of snow.   We arrived home during the early morning hours of January 2, in the New Year.  By ate Wednesday evening we had snow on the ground, not a mere dusting but a few inches.

The temperature continued to be low enough to keep the snow around for a few days, it didn't just melt within hours. In shady spots the snow lingered on nearly a week.  Who knew?  The good thing for the students here was they hadn't returned to school yet so they don't have to make up any days because of the snow.
