Virtual Farm2School Visits

Do you know the poem Mary Had a Little Lamb?  Here it is...

"Mary had a little lamb,"
BY SARAH JOSEPHA HALE

Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow;
And everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go.

It followed her to school one day,
Which was against the rule;
It made the children laugh and play
To see a lamb at school.

And so the teacher turned it out,
But still it lingered near,
And waited patiently about
Till Mary did appear.

Why does the lamb love Mary so?
The eager children cry;
Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know,
The teacher did reply.

Well teachers, we love our animals and we know it is often 'against the rule' as with Mary's lamb to have them at school.  We would like for you and your students to meet our animals  and have virtual visits of our farm throughout the school year.

What?

We’re offering fun and informative emails to teachers to share about the activities and allow you and your students an opportunity meet and greet the animals.  We’re going to share photographs and information bytes about them; their breed, habits, births, hatchlings and more.  We’ll also share what’s “growing on”, with updates about what we have planted or plan to plant, when it’s available and offer tastings.

When?

We’re calling these Morning Glory Monday’s and Farm Friend Fridays!  Monday’s will show the plant life and Friday’s the animal life.  Our first mailing will be September 9, 2019.

More!

In addition to this we have a portion of our field dedicated to the life and work of Dr. George Washington Carver.  It features plants that he taught and experimented on as well as shows methods he used for healthy farming.  We have pumpkins, corn, sunflowers, peanuts, sweet potatoes, field peas, collards and other greens.  A lesson with activity sheets is also available.  There will be contests and competitions with other classes wherever they are located.  The 'Web' is the limit!  Teachers may schedule visits to the farm for classes to see the animals and Dr. Carver plot in person and participate in on-site activities.  Contact us to request more information.
